• Abilities:

Antari: An antari is a rare type of magician in Kell's world. Their very blood is magic and therefore they are the only ones who can do blood magic, magic that is far more powerful than elemental magic and allows them to travel between worlds.

Elemental Magic: Kell also is able to control the 5 elements.

• Strengths:

Loyal: Kell is very loyal. He is loyal to the crown, to his brother and to his city. His loyalty isn't perfect but he when needed always puts those above himself. He has spent his entire life in service to the royal family while not fully being a part of it despite appearances. He could have in all likelihood spirited away but a deep sense of duty and loyalty has always kept in coming back to Red London and back to the Maresh family. When it comes to Rhy, there is nothing he wouldn't do for him. His loyalty goes beyond the normal. He would kill for, die for, and quite literally put his life as a bargaining chip to keep Rhy safe and alive.

Protective: Kell is protective to a fault. He has grown up knowing that he is responsible for keeping Rhy safe. He also holds the responsibility for keeping London, Arnes safe as well. He protects secrets and people. When he was younger a group kidnapped Rhy and while Kell rescued him and Rhy forgave them, Kell did not and killed them. He went to extreme lengths to protect the people he loved. He has shed much of his own blood in service of healing and protecting Rhy. He risks his safety and happiness in the push to protect others he loves and Arnes.

Strong-willed: Kell is particularly strong-willed. It's not just sheer stubbornness. He was able to fight through the control of a strong cognizant embodiment of magic that had taken over his body. Through the sheer force of his will, he was able to dispel the magic and free himself from it. Kell's strong-willed nature also shows in not always glowing ways. He continues to smuggle items between Londons because he wants to despite it not being allowed and his brother insisting that he stop.

• Weaknesses:

Stubborn: Kell can be very pig-headed. While sometimes it is a boon, often it is the root of his troubles. Kell is too stubborn to really let anything go. He holds onto grudges. Sometimes he doesn't even know why he remains stubborn about things. Rhy finds out about him smuggling and insists he stops before he is caught. Kell continues to stubbornly rebuff the prince on this matter and continues to smuggle which does, in fact, end up causing him quite a bit of pain and the kingdom quite a bit of danger.

Self-pitying: Kell grew up in the shadow of royalty. In some ways he was treated as an adoptive son but most often he knew he was more of a possession that the King and Queen had. Despite the fact that Rhy did treat him as a brother, Kell always had a part of him that wallowed in self-pity at his station in life. He felt like a bird in a gilded cage and all he wanted was to be free and he wanted family. While his pity doesn't often show, it is at the root of some of his worst choices. His self-pity is also a part of what drives him to smuggle, pushes him to not be content in the life he has.

Hypocritical: Lastly, Kell is nothing if not hypocritical. He has a hero complex and also a small reckless streak (goaded on by certain people). However, despite the fact that he will throw himself into danger for others he will rebuke those who do similar things or otherwise put themselves into danger he deems unnecessary despite what the reality may be. He can also be even more directly hypocritical. For example, he enters the Essen Tach as a competitor in disguise as he would have never been allowed to compete but he is livid at Lila for doing the same and for Tieren having allowed her to do so.

• Nightmares: Kell's nightmares would be loved ones dying and he being unable to save them. Also, that strong magic takes control of him and uses him to destroy the people and places that he loves. Lastly, a nightmare of being trapped, imprisoned, and otherwise not free.
